Add Laguna Beach to your plans in SoCal!

When you're planning a trip to Southern California, I recommend putting Laguna Beach on your list of places to go, especially if you like art galleries and art festivals. From June 29 - Sept 2, 2007 enjoy the Art-A-Fair Festival, featuring a Venetian theme. Conveniently located between the Sawdust Festival and Festival of the Arts grounds in Laguna Canyon, you'll find works primarily by California artists as well as artists from around the nation and beyond. This festival also includes live entertainment and fine food and beverages by Tivoli Too.

These two events comprise one of the most unique double-headers in racing. First, the stars of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and their crews battle for the top starting position in the sport's annual all-star event. The unique qualifying session inclues a pit stop where crews must demonstrate lightning-fast speed and pin-point accurcy. After qualifying the aways-exciting NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series makes its fourth Lowe's Motor Speedway appearance in the Quaker Steak & Lube 200.

The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series' annual all-star spectacular features a unique three-part format that produces the sport's most intense event. Only the top stars are eligible for this slobberknocker and with the winner guaranteed at least $1 million, sparks are sure to fly. This star-filled night has created many of the sport's most memorable moments and you want want to miss the next one.

Love my shopping vacations!

Not only do I love to travel, but I love to shop while I travel. Beaumont Texas is a great place for a visiting shopper - there are a ton of little specialty boutiques, antique stores, and shopping centers. I could spend the better part of a day in the Market on Orleans alone. Especially since I can get great Cajun food there!

Gateway to New Orleans: Jefferson Parish

There's nothing like a weekend in New Orleans. From evening spent eating in authentic Creole restaurants and partying in hoppin' dance clubs to late mornings over beignets and a latte; afternoons wandering through historic neighborhoods or visiting museums, parks and other local attractions. I like to stay in nearby Jefferson Parish, there's lots of shopping, great affordable hotels, and the people there are just wonderful.

Grand Isle features a beautiful beachfront park that's great for fishing. Explore the state park and see the wildlife, marsh birds, and other local flora and fauna. Visit Metairie and shop til you drop in local boutiques. Spend a romantic day in historic Gretna, named for Gretna Green, Scotland. Whatever you do, try and make it a long weekend to take advantage of all the fun things New Orleans and Jefferson Parish have to offer.
